“This inaugural event was simply amazing! This is the first event organized by the Warrior-1 promoters and we hope to see many more of this caliber. The fight card was top notch hosting names such as former UFC welterweight champion Carlos Newton, former WWE superstar Glenn Kulka and a great prospect from Quebec: Martin Grandmont. Robin Black did a great job with his interviews both during the show and at the weigh-ins the day before. He is the perfect representative for W1.”

W1 MMA is pleased to announce changes to W1: INCEPTION in Gatineau, Quebec on March 28th, 2009.

MARK ‘BOOTS’ HOLST
, from the Ottawa Academy of Martial
Arts will now be facing 2-Time UFC Veteran LUKE ‘LIL HULK’
CAUDILLO
. Caudillo is the toughest challenge in Holst’s young
career, but Holst was quick to accept the offer of the American
star. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Holst is taking a
huge step up in competition but believes he is ready for this
test. Could this be the unveiling of a new Canadian superstar?
A trip inside the W1 cage will answer that question.

One of Ottawa’s most popular athletes, CRAIG ‘FARMER’
BROWN
will be facing AARON BASSO from London, Ontario.
This fight is expected to be an all out brawl, as both fighters
are known to come out swinging. Not to be outdone by his
teammate Mark Holst, REMI MORVAN will be facing SEAN
QUINN
from Regina, Saskatchewan. These two warriors are
considered among the country’s top up and coming
bantamweights and a win should put them in line for a W1
Bantamweight Title shot at the next W1 event.

W1: INCEPTION
is headlined by the first Canadian UFC
Champion CARLOS ‘THE RONIN’ NEWTON facing one of the
country’s top welterweights, Ottawa’s own NABIL ‘THE
THRILL’ KHATIB
. With the country’s best athletes, non-stop
action and unmatched excitement, W1: INCEPTION is a can’tmiss
event for all MMA fans and thrill seekers in the capital
region. Tickets are on sale right now at TICKETMASTER.ca or by

W1 MMA: MARCH 28TH SHOW UPDATE!!

The day of reckoning is rapidly approaching as Warrior One MMA will be LIVE at the Robert Guertin Arena on March 28th for W1: INCEPTION. The highly anticipated main event between MMA legend CARLOS ‘THE RONIN’ NEWTON and NABIL ‘THE THRILL’ KHATIB continues to generate buzz throughout the MMA world. This fight was recently listed on Sherdog.com (the most popular MMA site in the world) as one of March’s top ten fights to watch; in the world!!

In addition to this historic main event, MARK ‘BOOTS’ HOLST will now put aside the past two months of opponent changes and will once again be scheduled to face his original opponent; striker MARTIN ‘THE HAMMER’ GRANDMONT in a lightweight slugfest.

“This is the fight we’ve wanted since day one,” said W1 Matchmaker Alex Caporicci. “Both these men are spectacular fighters who love to bang. There seems to be a genuine dislike between the camps and for year they’ve both heard arguments about who is the better striker. Finally they’ll get the opportunity to put an end to the debate.”

Due to an injury to his original opponent, former CFL and WWE superstar GLENN ‘THE KULKSTER’ KULKA will now be facing Amherst, NS native JOSH STRICKLAND. Kulka continues to train extremely hard to quickly dispatch of his opponent but Strickland looks to humble the Kulkster in front of his fans.

“Glenn continues to show how he is one of the best all-around athletes the country has ever produced,” said W1 Matchmaker Alex Caporicci. “For him to play junior hockey, be a CFL star, a pro wrestler and now a MMA fighter is incredible. There is not one thing that Glenn has set out to do and has not accomplished. Now he’s set his sights on MMA and I’m excited to see what his future in the sport will bring.”
